How It Works
It’s all about excellence - From the very beginning, Oral Roberts University has been a university committed to offering a whole-person education— spirit, mind, and body. With the launch of the Whole Person Scholarship, ORU will seek out prospective freshmen and transfer students—nominated by their schools or church officials—who are spiritually alive, intellectually alert, physically disciplined, socially adept, and on their way to becoming professionally competent (a task that ORU aims to complete). For the next four years, the Green family, who are ORU benefactors, has committed to matching up to $4 million a year to make this program a reality.
Your gifts will be multiplied! - The first Whole Person Scholarships will be awarded to eligible freshmen and transfer students for the 2009-10 academic year. A one-year, full-tuition scholarship is valued at $20,000. Students will be eligible to renew the scholarship each year if they continue to maintain a “whole-person lifestyle.” One of the best things about this program is that it’s included in ORU’s $25 million Renewing the Vision matching gift campaign (if the gift is received by April 30, 2009). Yes, gifts for the Whole Person Scholarship will be matched by the ORU Board of Trustees, dollar for dollar! Trustee dollars will go toward erasing the debt of the university. Essentially, each gift you give will be quadrupled (if the gift is received by April 30, 2009), impacting students and sustaining the future of ORU.
Here is how a gift of $20,000 would be multiplied:
$20,000 original gift matched by the Green family = $40,000
(the $40,000 goes toward a Whole Person Scholarship)
… then …
the $40,000 matched by Renewing the Vision = $80,000
(the $40,000 match from Renewing the Vision is used to pay down university debt) |
